SENIOR NOTES

Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination

Starting in January, 2012 all incoming Freshman to state college and universities or trade schools are required to show proof of immunization against Bacterial Meningitis. The law does not apply to students age 30 and over or to students who are enrolled only in online classes: ALL other students must comply. The meningitis vaccination or booster must have been administered withtin the last five years and before the start of the semester or term at the college/university/trade school. Evidence of immunization must be turned into the Office of Admissions of the respective post-secondary institution.

Students can go to their personal physican or other health care provider for this vaccination. County health departments provide vaccinations to students without insurance or students whose insurance does not cover adult immunization. Contact the Bonham Community Health Center at 903/583-6155 for immunization and fee information.

NOTICE: Many schools will drop students ten (10) days before classes begin if proof of meningitis immunizations or exemptions are not provided.
