FINANCIAL AID SEMINAR

A Financial Aid Seminar will be held for Seniors and their parents on how to begin the process for the FREE APPLICATION for FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA). Representatives form Texas A&M University - Commerce will be at Bonham HS to explain the process and the documentation students/parents will need to start this application. The imformation presented can be used by student for application to any university, college or trade school the student is interested in attending.

There will be question and answer sessions following the presentation where parents can get additional information if needed. Bi-lingual interpeters will be available to lend assistance to non-English speaking families. Students must complete the FAFSA application process when they are seeking admission to any university/college or trade school. Many scholarships applications also require students to complete this process. It is very important for all seniors who are planning to attend post-secondary education to come to this meeting to learn the steps of the FAFSA application.

Even if a student thinks they may not qualify for financial aid, come to this important meeting. Students & parents may find they do qualify for some type of assistance for education after graduation from Bonham High School.

FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP

4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Bonham High School Computer Lab - Room 124

This workshop is a continuation of the Financial Aid Seminar from January, 2013. Financial Aid Advisors from an area college/university will be at Bonham High School to assist Seniors and their parents with the application process for FAFSA. Applications for FAFSA are done by computer.

Students will need a PIN number to start the application process. It is advisable that the student and at least one parent get a PIN number for this application process

Participants will need their 2012 W-2 forms and other Income Tax information from their 2012 return in order to complete this process. ** -It is HIGHLY recommended that parents file their 2012 Income Tax return as soon after the start of 2013 year in order for their child to have all FAFSA information to their post-high school institution of choice.

Information started at this session can be saved and ammended at a later date.

Selective Service System

If you are a man ages 18 through 25 and living in the U.S., then you must register with Selective Service. It's the law. According to law, a man must register with Selective Service within 30 days of his 18th birthday. Selective Service will accept late registrations, but not after a man has reached age 26. You may be denied benefits or a job if you have not registered. You can register at any U.S. Post Office and do not need a social security number. Selective Service does not collect any information which would indicate whether or not you are undocumented.

** - All males must register for Selective Service when they fill out their application for FREE APPLICATION for FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA).
